l Theme: Food l Objective: At the end of this lesson, students are able to ask each other, “Do you like _________?" and answer “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.” or “What do/don’t you like?”,and answer “I like/ don’t like _______. “ l Target Students: 1st or 2nd Graders (who have started learning English 6 months) l Materials: flashcards(food), a paper ball, a food chart l Class Time: 60 min.
Procedure Students pass the mystery ball around the class in a circle singing Spaghetti song. When teacher says “Stop”, the student who has the ball unwrap the ball, answers the teacher’s question, he or she can have the candy. Keep going until a student gets the last candy. (the mystery ball: wrap the muffin with a crumpled sheet of paper and then wrap it with another sheet of paper and attach the candy onto it with scotch tape, until it becomes a ball)
Spaghetti Song: Do you like spaghetti? Yes, I do. Yes, I do. I do, too. Do you like spaghetti? Yes, I do. I like spaghetti, too.
2. Presentation (15 min.) a. Food Riddles e.g. Q: I am white. I am from a cow. You can drink me for breakfast. A: milk b. Introduce the following grammar structures: (on the board)

3. Practice (30 min.) a. Q&A with flashcards- Teacher shows a flashcard to students and asks a question, and then, students answer to it.
T: Do you like _________? b. Pair Work: Students in pairs can choose 5 food flashcards from the teacher and ask and answer each other. Then, think of their own food items and ask and answer each other. Student A: What do you like? What don’t you like? Student B: I like ______, ________, and ________. But I don’t like _______, or ________.
4. Wrap-up (10 min.) a. Teacher tosses the fluffy ball around and asks a student, “________, Do you like _______?”, and the student answers, “Yes, I do.” or “No, I don’t.” b. When everybody answers the first question, then teacher asks a student second question, “________, what food do you like?” or “What food don’t you like?” Then, the student answers, “I like ________, ________, and _______.” “I don’t like _________, or __________.”
5. Application As homework, students fill in this blanks of a handout and prepare for the presentation about their meals.
